Rumours: Man United in talks with former Chelsea boss Jose Mourinho, Man City to appoint Pep Guardiola in summer 2016

Man United have already reached out to representatives of Jose Mourinho about making him their next manager, as Louis van Gaal clings onto his job.

There are suggestions that Van Gaal has just two games to secure his future after an embarrassing 1-2 reverse against Norwich on Saturday consigned United to their third consecutive defeat (Mail)

Mourinho is said to have rejected an approach from Roma over the weekend because he has his heart set on taking over at Old Trafford (Independent on Sunday)

Pep Guardiola is the strong favourite to take over from Manuel Pellegrini at Man City when, as is widely expected, the Chilean departs next summer.

It comes after Bayern Munich confirmed that Guardiola will be leaving the German champions at the end of this season, with former Chelsea boss Carlo Ancelotti replacing him at the Allianz Arena (Mirror)
