German passport, most powerful in the world, Nigeria, one of the weakest – SEE FULL LIST
Germany has claimed bragging rights in an annual ranking of the world’s most powerful passports, while the UK and US each fell multiple spots. In Africa, Seychelles rank number one placed 31 in the world while Nigeria, the most populous black nation in the world ranks 92 in the world.
All three countries shared first place in last year’s study, but the UK and US have dropped to third and fourth, respectively, in this year’s list.
German citizens hold the world’s most powerful passport as they can visit 177 countries without a visa, while British travellers can enter 175 and US tourists can travel to 174.
With a maximum attainable score of 218, the visa restriction index by Henley & Partners, a citizenship and planning firm, ranks nations or territories based on the number of countries their citizens can travel to visa-free.
It is based on visa restrictions that were in place on 1 January.
Germany claimed sole possession of first spot this year after three countries lifted visa restrictions for its citizens, edging Sweden, which finished second with visa-free access to 176 countries.
After three consecutive years in first, the UK fell to third and was tied with Finland, France, Italy and Spain with a score of 175, up one from 174 last year.
The US shared fourth spot with Belgium, Denmark and the Netherlands.
As for the world’s least powerful passports, Afghanistan found itself at the bottom of the table with visa-free access to just 25 countries.
Pakistan was in second-last place (29), just behind Iraq (30), Somalia (31) and Syria (32).
In a statement, Henley & Partners, which has offices around the world, including London and Melbourne, said only 21 of the 199 countries listed in this year’s study remained in the same rank as last year.
It said: ‘No country, however, dropped more than three positions, indicating that overall, visa-free access is improving around the world.
“Somalia, Iraq, Pakistan and Afghanistan meanwhile, continue to hold the bottom four positions on the index, and thus have again been labelled the worst passports in the world.”
Timor-Leste, in Southeast Asia, had the biggest leap, climbing 33 spots to 57th place, followed by Colombia and Paula, which jumped 25 and 20 spots, respectively.
Hungary returned to the top 10, while Malaysia was bumped out.
Henley & Partners, which has produced an annual index in co-operation with the International Air Transport Association (IATA) since 2006, said: ‘There continues to be a huge disparity in the levels of travel freedom between countries, despite the world becoming more mobile and interdependent.
“Generally, visa requirements reflect strongly on each country’s relationships with others, and will take into account diplomatic relationships between the countries, reciprocal visa arrangements, security risks and the risks of visa and immigration rules violations.”

Investors Moved N2.2 Trillion Away From The Nigerian Economy In 2015 -thecable
The confidence to invest and make profit in Nigeria has dropped drastically over the last year, with investors withdrawing more than N2.2 trillion from the economy in 2015. According to statistics from Nigeria’s Data Bureau (NBS), as quoted by Quartz Africa, investor confidence in Nigeria rose significantly between 2010 and 2013, only to take a little dive in 2014, and a drastic drop in 2015.When Goodluck Jonathan was announced acting president of the country in 2010, following the illness and subsequent death of Umaru Yar’Adua, investing interest in Nigeria rose by N1.17 trillion. In Jonathan’s second year, and after a “successful” presidential election, investing interest rose by N396 billion to an approximate N1.6 trillion. By 2013, investing interest in Nigeria had risen by N2.65 trillion to N4.22 trillion. In 2014, towards the build-up of the 2015 general elections, which predicted endless doom for Nigeria, some investors withdrew their monies from the Nigerian economy, leading to a drop from N4.22 trillion to N4.1 trillion. In 2015, however, there was a drastic withdrawal of investing interest in Nigeria, and according to NBS, investing interest declined by N2.2 trillion in 2015.Some investors blamed it on the uncertainties that surrounded the 2015 elections, while many others blamed it on the lack of policy direction in the first five months of President Muhammadu Buhari’s administration. Data from the Nigerian Stock Exchange (NSE) show that investors were voting their monies out of the economy prior to the election, but immediately after the relatively free and fair poll, they brought the monies back. Then three months before the election, NSE lost 8.40 percent of its worth, only to regain 8.30 percent in a single day after the election. By March 31, 2015 – while the election results were being collated – the NSE market capitalisation was at N10.718 trillion, but it rose to N11.62 trillion after Buhari’s victory. The bullish phenomenon was called ‘Bullhari’. As at December 31, 2015, the market cap was down from N11.62 trillion in April to N9.85 trillion.
President Buhari Orders Investigation Into Benue Killings
President Muhammadu Buhari has ordered an investigation into the clashes between herdsmen and indigenes of communities in Benue State.President Buhari who expressed deep shock at the latest incident during the past week, which led to hundreds of deaths in four communities in Agatu, Benue State, ordered security agencies to get to the root causes of the problem.“We will conduct an investigation to know exactly what happened; the only way to bring an end to the violence once and for all is to look beyond one incident and ascertain exactly what factors are behind the conflicts,” he said.He added that all Nigerians must learn to live together as one, in peace and unity.“We are all one nation and one people,” he said. “There should not be any reason why Nigerians of any group or tongue cannot now reside with one another wherever they find themselves after decades of living together.”The President further expressed condolences to the government and people of Benue State, particularly the people of the Agatu communities, assuring them that the government would do everything possible to ensure that no such incident ever occurred in their midst again.“Once the investigations are concluded, we will act immediately to address the root of the problem,” he said.

Buhari says he would rather invest in agriculture than give N5k to unemployed Nigerians
“This largesse of N5,000 for the unemployed, I have got a slightly different priority. I would rather do the infrastructure for the school that request them and empower agriculture, mining so that every able bodied person can go and get work instead of giving 5,000, N5,000 to those who don’t work.”

Buhari Wants To Islamise Nigeria- Fayose
Fayose made the allegations while delivering a speech at the inter–denominational thanksgiving held in Port-Harcourt to celebrate the victory of the Rivers State Governor, Nyesom Wike after the supreme court ruling.
Governor Fayose, who referred to himself as Peter, the rock who cannot be harmed by anyone, announced to the crowd that he had a secret to reveal.
He asked those present if he should reveal the big secret about the Buhari led, APC government.
After the crowd yelled that he should reveal it, Fayose said: “They have started subtle moves to make Nigeria an Islamic nation, but God will stop them. This was done in 1984, it failed, it would fail again.”
To underline an earlier boast that he could not be intimidated by the ruling party, Fayose further stated: “I am not far away, I am in Ekiti. I am Ayo Fayose, Peter the rock, if you hit me you will be in trouble. If I hit you, you will be in trouble.”
To substantiate his claim about the President’s plan to make Nigeria an Islamic nation, Fayose said: “Why did five of them go to Saudi Arabia to wait for our man there (referring to President Buhari and state governors), if they don’t have agenda.
“The agenda is coming small small, but we will resist it. Nigeria is a free nation where we proclaim the name of Jesus Christ freely, and we believe in Allah for those who are muslims. This nation will not be taken for an Islamic nation,” Fayose said.
As a closing remark, the Ekiti State governor went on to declare and “decree” the return of a PDP-led government in 2019.
