The "Hello" singer explained exactly what happened during an appearance on The Ellen DeGeneres Show that will air later today, February 18, and admitted that although she appeared to be taking the whole situation in stride, she actually found the drama totally overwhelming.
"Sound check was great. Went really well," Adele recounted to Ellen DeGeneres. "I was really excited, and then during the changeover, the microphones fell onto the piano strings, which is what the guitar noise was," she explained.

"Some people thought it was [Justin]Bieber rehearsing, but it wasn’t him. We’re on great terms. And then it kind of put the whole thing off really," she said.
The award-winning singer explained she realized at once what the issue was but didn't turn around and fish out the offending microphone. "I froze," she said, adding that the fact that her singing sounded slightly out of tune didn't bother her.

"I’m always a bit pitchy anyways — it’s emotion," she explained:us magazine . "When I’m flat and I’m sharp, I’m just emotional."
But having tweeted an explanation out to the world, Adele then woke in the morning to find everyone was still talking about it. "I was embarrassed. I woke up the next morning to people in England being like, 'We still love you, don’t worry,' and I was like, 'I didn’t ask you if you still loved me, but thanks.' I was so embarrassed. I cried pretty much all day yesterday," she went on. "I kept like spontaneously bursting into tears yesterday. But it was all right. I was fine."
